Getting started¶
- Sign up with your email, or with Google or Apple, then tap Create my bar. You get your own account with a bar called Home Bar and a free 30-day trial. No card needed. You'll be asked once whether you're 21 or older; under 21, you get every mocktail.
- Add what you have. Open My Shelf in the tab bar. On an empty shelf, tap Tap the bottles I have and pick from two dozen common bottles; the button counts the drinks they make as you go. Or tap Type them in and type bottles into the box under On the shelf, separated by commas:
rye whiskey, Campari, sweet vermouth. Brand names work too (Cointreau,Jameson). Or open a category under Add by category and tap bottles to add them. - See what you can make. Home opens with four ways in: My Shelf, Make a Drink (everything you can pour right now), Discover (new this week) and Shopping List. On a phone it greets you with Up Next, the next drink in your line-up, or a Shaker's Pick you can pour now. Further down, Buy next shows the bottles that would unlock the most favorites. On Recipes, set Can I make it? to Ready to pour for everything you can make, or One bottle away for drinks missing a single ingredient.
Not sure where to start? Tap Start with the essentials on the empty shelf (or Add the essentials under the shelf) for 13 basics that make 22 drinks. Until you're set up, Home shows a Set up checklist: stock the shelf, add tools, plan a party, take the tour and install the app (owners also get invite a host). Tap Finished to hide it for good. Me → Help & guides explains how it all works, and its Bar essentials shows what to buy in three rounds, plus the tools, glasses and syrups worth having.
The tour¶
The first time you open your bar, a short tour points out each part of the page. Take it again any time from Me → Help & guides → Take the 60-second tour. Owners, hosts and guests each get their own tour, once.
Just here as a guest?¶
You don't need a bar or a subscription. Sign up for a free login and open Recipes: the whole drink book, a search that suggests names as you type, star your favorites, and keep track of what you've made. Your favorites go with you to every bar and party you're invited to. If you'd like your own shelf later, tap Start your own bar.
